How do I invite someone to Ethos?

Overview

Ethos uses an invitation system to onboard new users. Existing members can invite others to join the network, and the quality of your invitees reflects back on your own credibility.

How to Send an Invitation

  1. Navigate to the invitation section of the Ethos app.

  2. You'll see how many invitations you currently have available.

  3. Enter the wallet address or social handle of the person you'd like to invite.

  4. Confirm and send the invitation.

How Many Invitations Do I Get?

The number of invitations you receive depends on your credibility score and activity on the platform. Higher-scoring, more active users tend to receive more invitations. Invitations may be replenished periodically as you continue to contribute to the network.

The Bonding Period

When you invite someone, a bonding period begins. During this time, the invitee's behavior on Ethos is linked to your reputation. If they turn out to be a bad actor, it can negatively affect your own credibility score. Conversely, inviting someone who becomes a valued community member reflects positively on you.

See the existing article "How the invitation bonding period works" for full details on the bonding mechanism.

Who Should I Invite?

Choose carefully as your invitations reflect on you. Good candidates are:

  • People you know and trust in the web3 space

  • Active community members with legitimate track records

  • Users who will contribute positively to the Ethos ecosystem

Avoid inviting unknown accounts, bots, or accounts you suspect may engage in sybil attacks or fraud.
