How markets impact your score

Written by node
Updated this week

Your Ethos credibility score is directly affected by your market's trust percentage — the ratio of trust votes to distrust votes.

The basics

  • More trust votes push your trust percentage up, which raises your score

  • More distrust votes push it down, which lowers your score

  • Simply having an open market gives you a small score bonus

Curve type matters

The curve type you chose when creating your market determines how much it can impact your score:

  • Volatile — smaller score impact (up to ±150 points)

  • Balanced — moderate impact (up to ±300 points)

  • Insulated — largest impact (up to ±400 points)

A more insulated market has a steadier price but carries more weight in your score. A volatile market swings faster but has a lower ceiling.

How fast does it change?

Market activity doesn't hit your score instantly. Changes are smoothed over a short window (a few hours) to prevent manipulation from sudden spikes.
