Leave a negative review on the person's Ethos profile at app.ethos.network/profile/x/<handle>. It lowers their credibility score, it is the first thing anyone who looks them up sees, and it shows next to their X profile for everyone running the Ethos Chrome extension. Unlike a tweet, it does not scroll away, and unlike a report to a platform, it is public and attached to a record other people rely on.
How to do it
Open the person's profile. It exists even if they never joined Ethos.
Write a negative review. Say what happened, when, and what you can show. Make sure you're writing a detailed review as this helps the next reader more than a short review. Reviews are public and tied to your own profile, so write it the way you would want it read by someone deciding whether to trust you.
Attach the evidence you have: the transaction, the posts, the conversation.
What it changes
Their credibility score drops, and it drops more when the reviewer is credible, so one honest review from an established member is worth more than a pile-on.
Anyone who checks the handle, from an OTC desk to a DAO admitting new members, sees it.
If the damage is serious and the person has a reputation to lose, a member with a score of at least 1600 can propose a slash. A slash goes to a 48-hour weighted vote and, if it passes, lowers their credibility score. See how do slashes work?.
Also report it
Ethos warns the next person. It does not recover funds. Report the theft to the platform it happened on, to Chainabuse, and to law enforcement where you are. Those reports and your Ethos review do different jobs, and you want both.
Common questions
Can the scammer delete my review? No. Only the person who wrote a review can edit or remove it.
Can I review someone who is not on Ethos? Yes, any X account can be reviewed.
What if they retaliate with a negative review on me? Retaliatory reviews are strongly frowned upon on Ethos. Other members vote on reviews, a review written in retaliation usually gets downvoted, and downvotes nullify its effect on your score. It also reflects on the person who wrote it, not on you. See How Does Review Voting Work?.
Should I review them back if they review me first? No. Write about what happened, with evidence, and leave it at that. Tit-for-tat reviews get downvoted and cost the author credibility.
