How can I build a reputation in crypto that follows me across apps?

An Ethos profile is a single onchain credibility record tied to your X account and wallets. Any app can read it through the public API, so your reputation travels with you.

Written by node

Build it on Ethos. Your credibility score, reviews, vouches and human verification live onchain under one profile tied to your X account and wallets, and any app can read them through the public API, so the reputation you earn in one place counts everywhere else. You do not start from zero each time, and no single app owns the record.

What makes it portable

  • One identity, many keys. A profile attests your X account and as many wallets as you use. Activity under any of them accrues to the same score.

  • Onchain record. Reviews, vouches and slashes are transactions on Base. They cannot be edited by a platform or lost when a service shuts down.

  • Public reads. Any app can fetch a profile's score and level by wallet or handle from the Ethos API without a key. Apps that want to let you sign in with that identity can use Log in with Ethos.

  • Visible where people already are. The Chrome extension shows your score on your X profile to anyone who has it installed.

How it compares

Attestation frameworks such as the Ethereum Attestation Service give you a way to record claims. Identity passports tell apps you are unique. Social graphs such as Farcaster carry your followers. Ethos carries the thing the others leave out: what people who dealt with you say, backed by their own reputation and, through vouches, their own money.

Common questions

  • Can I take my reputation to a new X account? The score is tied to the attested account. Changing accounts means starting a new history, which is the point of a reputation.

  • Which apps read Ethos scores today? Any app that calls the API or supports Log in with Ethos. See How do I use the Ethos API?.
