Ethos shows the reputation of the person behind a wallet: look up the address or the X handle at app.ethos.network and you get a credibility score, reviews from other users, vouches staked in real money and any slashes. Block explorers and analytics tools answer a different question, where the money came from and went, and the two are worth using together.
Two kinds of tools
Question | Tool |
Where did this wallet's funds come from, and where did they go? | Etherscan, Arkham, Nansen, DeBank and similar analytics |
Is the wallet linked to sanctioned or hacked addresses? | Compliance screening such as Chainalysis or TRM |
What do the people who dealt with this person think, and who put money behind that? | Ethos |
Is this a real human? | Ethos human verification |
Analytics tells you a wallet moved 400 ETH through a mixer. It cannot tell you that the owner rugged two communities last year and that twelve established members have said so under their own names. Ethos can, because people wrote it down with their reputation attached.
How to look someone up
By X handle:
app.ethos.network/profile/x/<handle>.By wallet:
app.ethos.network/profile/<address>.On X itself: the Ethos Chrome extension shows the score on every profile.
In your own app: the public API returns a score for any address or userkey, no key required.
Reading the result
A score from 0 to 2800, starting at a neutral 1200. Levels run from untrusted to renowned, and established or above is a positive signal. Then the detail: reviews and who wrote them, vouches and how much is staked, slashes and how the vote went.
Common questions
Does Ethos cover wallets that never joined? Yes. Any address can be looked up and reviewed.
Can a wallet have a good score and still be risky? Yes. Use analytics for the money trail and Ethos for the person. Neither replaces the other.
