What is $WHUF used for?

The token's utility: vouching, fees, markets, and verification

After the Sale Updated Oct 29, 2026 1 min read

$WHUF is the native token of the Ethos reputation protocol, live and trading on Base since October 8, 2026. Everything below works at launch. None of it is roadmap.

Vouching

Stake $WHUF in the profiles of people you trust. Vouching is the core trust signal of the network. It's costly to fake because vouched tokens can be slashed if the person you back behaves badly. Active vouchers earn contributor rewards from a fixed pool (18% of supply, emitted by smart contract over many years).

Protocol fees

Writing reviews, creating attestations, initiating vouches, and other actions that write to the reputation graph require a small $WHUF fee. Every fee is burned: permanently removed from supply.

Reputation markets

Reputation markets on Ethos Trade let anyone take positions on the trustworthiness of people. All markets are denominated in $WHUF, and trading fees are burned. Learn more in What is Ethos Trade?

The numbers

  • Total supply: 10,000,000 $WHUF, fees are burned so today's supply is less than the initial supply.

  • Chain: Base (Ethereum L2)

  • Fees: 100% burned

  • Contributor rewards: 18% of supply, emitted continuously to active vouchers
