What is a nudge?
When you request human verification on Ethos, you need an eligible verifier to confirm your identity. The nudge feature lets you send a notification to people in your network, asking them to verify you. It's a quick way to get their attention without having to reach out off-platform.
How to nudge someone
Go to the Human verification page
After requesting verification, you'll see a list of nearby verifiers — people in your network who are eligible to verify you
Click the Nudge button next to the verifier you'd like to notify
The button changes to Nudged to confirm it was sent
The verifier will receive both an in-app notification and a push notification (if enabled) with a link to verify you.
Who can you nudge?
You can only nudge people who are close connections in your Ethos network — specifically 1st, 2nd, or 3rd-degree connections. These are people you've interacted with through vouches, reviews, or other Ethos activity.
Who qualifies as an eligible verifier?
Not everyone in your network can verify you. An eligible verifier must:
Hold a Validator NFT
Be human-verified themselves
Have a credibility score above the minimum threshold
Only users meeting all three requirements will appear in your nearby verifiers list.
How many times can I nudge someone?
You can nudge each eligible verifier once. After you've nudged someone, the button is disabled to prevent duplicate notifications. There's no cost or XP fee for nudging.
What does the verifier see?
The verifier receives a notification that says:
"Someone in your network has requested to be verified" [Your name] asked you to confirm that they are human
Tapping the notification takes them directly to your verification page.
Troubleshooting
"This user is not an eligible verifier": The person you're trying to nudge doesn't meet the verifier requirements (missing Validator NFT, not yet human-verified, or score too low).
"We can only send nudges to close connections": You and this person aren't connected closely enough in the Ethos network. Build your connection through vouches or reviews first.
No verifiers showing up: You may not have enough close connections who meet the eligibility requirements yet. Grow your network by vouching and reviewing.
